Tight city parking is hard on tires in a way open-road driving never is. Most of the Lowell tires we replace early were killed by a curb, not by mileage.
What Tires Covers
- New tire sales — major brands
- Mount & balance
- Rotation & alignment checks
- Flat repair & patching
- TPMS service and reset
Scuffing a sidewall against a granite curb while parallel parking abrades the outer rubber and can damage the cords underneath. Light cosmetic rash is usually just that, but a gouge deep enough to expose cord is a replacement — sidewalls can't be repaired, and a compromised one fails without warning.
The other half of Lowell tire work is straightforward high-mileage replacement. Commuter cars off the Connector cover real distance, and a set reaching the wear bars is simply due. We check date codes and inner edges as well as tread depth so nothing gets missed.

Lowell Questions About Tires
- I scraped a curb parking downtown — does the tire need replacing?
- It depends how deep it is. Surface scuffing on the sidewall rubber is usually cosmetic; a gouge that reaches the cords means the tire has to be replaced, since sidewalls can't be repaired.
- Can you patch a nail in the tread?
- Tread punctures within the repairable area can often be handled; punctures in or near the sidewall or shoulder cannot. We'll look and tell you which one you have.
- How long is the drive from Lowell?
- About 20 minutes to 779 Woburn St in Wilmington. One shop, no Lowell location.
