Many BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen models, plus some Fords, manage charging according to the battery's age and type. Registering or coding the new battery resets that. Without it, the car can overcharge or undercharge the replacement and shorten its life. When we replace a battery in West Peabody, near Peabody Square, or in a lot off Route 1 or Route 114, we do that registration where the vehicle requires it.
We also check the battery type. Cars that came with AGM batteries need AGM replacements, and start-stop systems depend on them. The old battery leaves with us for recycling. If testing turns up a charging fault or anything else, our Wilmington shop is about 25 minutes away.

- Does my BMW, Mercedes or Audi need the new battery registered?
- Many models do. Registration tells the car a new battery is installed so it charges correctly. We handle it on site where your vehicle requires it.
- What happens if the battery isn't registered?
- The car may keep charging it as if it were the old, worn battery. That can shorten the new battery's life and trigger electrical warnings.
- Can you replace the battery in a parking lot off Route 1?
